Two police officers were moderately injured in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of A-Tur on Wednesday after a car rammed into them near the Mount of Olives.
The two officers, a man and women in their twenties, were evacuated to the Hadassah University Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the capital for treatment. Police said the driver veered off the road and into a group of Border Police officers who were patrolling the A-Tur junction.
The attacker, a 30-year-old man, was shot and killed on the spot, police said in a statement.
Residents of A-Tur began throwing rocks at security forces at the scene following the attack. Jerusalem District Police Chief Moshe Edri praised the police for "neutralizing the terrorist" and preventing further harm to innocent people.
