Jewish Tomsk celebrates
22.04.2013, Community Life More than 350 members of the Jewish community of Tomsk, Russia, celebrated last week a series of events that included a visit from the Chief Rabbi, a historic meeting with the Governor, the inauguration of a new Torah scroll and the ground breaking for a new Jewish educational campus.
The events opened with a special visit and tour of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, and continued with a historic meeting with the regional Governor of Tomsk who showed his support for the Jewish community and its leaders.
The next event combined the Inauguration of a new Torah scroll donated to the beautiful, historical Tomsk Synagogue that was recently renewed, and the ground breaking ceremony for a new Jewish educational campus which will focus primarily on children and youth.
