The remains of the historical Synagogue in the famous Jewish city of Zhitomir, Ukraine – were torn down this week as part of the Jewish community’s efforts to restore the building and return it to its days of glory. The Synagogue will be restored and expanded.
The restoration project has been postponed several times in recent years, due to its high cost, and only lately have sufficient sources been found to begin the project. The community is still seeking additional partners to ensure that the building will be completed.
The new Synagogue, G-d willing, will also include a modern JCC, generously donated by the Rohar family from NY-Miami, and a Mikvah.
