A new semester in Zhitomir’s ‘Derech Eretz’ Jewish children’s club opens with new attractions alongside fascinating heritage and Jewish history classes: Self-defense and Karate courses for the boys, and styling and dancing for girls.
The club, operating free of charge in the FJC’s ‘Or Avner’ school in Zhitomir, West Ukraine in the afternoon hours, attracts children of varied ages who participate in a wide range of activities and classes throughout the year.
West Ukraine is considered one of the most impoverished areas in the Former Soviet Union and the participating children come mainly from families with difficult economic situations.
