                  New Mikvah Opens in Bryansk

                  20.06.2012, Community Life

The event took place with the participation of hundreds of Jews from the entire region and prominent guests from Moscow, headed by Chief Rabbi of Russia Rabbi Berel Lazar – began with a special meeting between the local Governor and his team, Rabbi Lazar and Rabbi Mendy Zaklas – the chief Rabbi of Bryansk and the heads of the Jewish community. The event later continued with a grand tour of the community’s educational institutes and historical Synagogue and the opening of the new Mikvah that will serve the Jews of the region.
The recently completed Mikvah represents the first phase of a major expansion project for the Jewish community in the city, led by Rabbi Mendy and Rivky Zaklas, which will also include a Shul, nursery school and other buildings.
The building was opened with a grand ribbon cutting ceremony attended by community members and sponsors. In attendance were many government representatives and leaders of nearby Jewish communities.
