Fellowship Foundation Aids Krivoy Rog Families
01.12.2011, Community Life Thanks to a humanitarian campaign, Jewish families in financial distress in Krivoy Rog have much needed sustenance. The Jewish community of Krivoy Rog distributed food parcels to 80 needy Jewish children under the age of 16. The parcels were sponsored by the Keren Yedidut Fellowship Foundation (IFCJ) and the Aid to Children program which the Jewish community runs jointly with the IFCJ.
A benefit of the humanitarian campaign is that recipient families become more involved in Jewish communal life. Parents often begin volunteering in community projects and children often start attending Jewish summer camp and even the local Jewish school.
According to Tatiana Kutz, the director of the Ohr Avner Krivoy Rog Foundation, the assistance provided by the food packages each month is needed now more than ever before. This would not be possible without the support of the Fellowship Foundation, headed by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein.
The Jewish community of Krivoy Rog, headed by Rabbi Liron Ederi and chairman Alexander Uchitel, is a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine.
