This week, the magazine “The World of Jewish Women” (published in Lugansk, Ukraine) reached a milestone by releasing its 100th issue. This Russian-language periodical has been published for 10 years and is distributed to 80 cities in 17 countries. There are 100,000 subscribers.

It is not surprising that the magazine has become one of the most popular Russian-language Jewish periodicals. The magazine is devoted to issues that Jewish women today find compelling with features on Jewish philosophy and ethics, women in the Jewish community, as well as columns on Jewish cuisine, healthy lifestyles, beauty and fashion.

Although the magazine’s editors are located in Lugansk, its authors live all around the world. The articles and interviews, sent in from places such as Rostov-on-Don, Berlin and Miami, set the stage for this latest issue, entitled "The Jewish Woman in the 21st Century."

“The magazine presents Jewish values in a format that is interesting for its readers – women,” commented Rebbetzin Chana Gopin, the editor of Jewish Women. “In the CIS countries, there is already a fairly wide range of women who observe the commandments and who participate in women's club meetings at their synagogues. But there are also many young and middle-aged women who are not yet actively involved in community life. We are primarily addressing them in our magazine.”

The magazine is constantly developing. In recent months, readers have the opportunity to receive the magazine wherever they live, whether it is a village or city, in the former Soviet Union and Israel. About six months ago, the editors launched the website Jewishwoman.ru, which is an online version of the magazine.
Over the years, many people have contributed to the magazine. Among them are Rabbi Avraham and Rebbetzin Rachel Heber, the editor of the Jewish section, Chief Rabbi of Cherkassy Dov Axelrod, Sarah Deutch (Perm), Yael Bergman (Nizhny Novgorod), Dalia Kurtsweil (Dnepropetrovsk), Dina Erentroy (Zaporozhia ), Dorit Wagner (Irkutsk), Kineret Myers (Orenburg), Nechama Friedman (Israel), Feiga Stolin (Rostov-on-Don), Tzipora Gorelik (Moscow), Rachel Kot (Riga), Dina Stambler (Dneprodzerzhinsk), Menucha Raskin (Khmelnitsky), Gita Kamenetsky (Tomsk), Rachel Krichevsky (Omsk), and many others.
